Category Management/ Creating Categories
A category allows you to group products and services that have one or more things in common.
Each product and service must have a category, they will appear in the tab of the same name in the selected category.
Since its products are assigned to a category, you could choose not to tax it and this modification will automatically apply to all products and services.
The choices you make in the Option tab will also apply to all products and services associated with this category.
To add a category, go to the left menu and click on Inventory > Category.
Click on the +New button in red and located at the bottom right to create a new category.
Assign a Code, the Name and select the Tax Rules if necessary.
The profit margin is a desired markup percentage.
It is also a way to change the price of the item on the fly when adding it to a sale.
Click on Save before you close the page.
For example, for a product that often changes price like it was the case for a wooden board during a pandemic, enter an increase of 2% and each time you add this board to a sale, the price will not only be increased on the sale, but also in the product sheet for the next addition.
To deactivate this function, empty the profit margin.
Take the opportunity to select the accounting accounts attributable to invoicing and purchasing.
